Membership Request is not added in the Site Membership Review List

Hi,

I have setup FBA and it seems to be working fine except that when we use the Membership Request Web Part to create a user with for with a hotmail or gmail email the request is not added in the Site Membership Review List and user does not receive email notifications.

But if a new user is created with an email which exists in the domain then the request is added to the Site Membership Review List and users receives all emails notifications.

Thanks to advise on possible solution.

The problem will be your email server setup. It's sending internal emails, but isn't sending out emails from the SharePoint server to external addresses. You'll have to turn on 'Relaying' on your SMTP Server for the SharePoint server's IP Address.
